Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.) confirmed that the 59.6 carat sparkling pink diamond, referred as the “Pink Star” is supreme in terms of color and clarity and is scheduled to be auctioned, by Christie’s Magnificent Jewels in Geneva on the 13th of November later this year. This feminine oval brilliant cut pink diamond is declared as an exceptionally rare IIA diamond, for its flamboyant transparency and premium quality. This gleaming
oval shaped diamond was discovered in the year 1999 from a 132.5 carat rough stone, which was unearthed from the deep mines of Africa by De Beers and polished by Steinmetz Diamonds for over a period of two years. Set delicately on a magnificent ring, this luminous rock measures 2.69 x 2.06 centimeters (1.06 by 0.81 inches), and weighs to about 11.92 grams (0.026 pounds) making it one of a kind and an exquisite piece of jewelry. This dazzling diamond is regarded to be the “most sought after diamond ever presented” by Sotheby’s and is estimated to fetch an excess of somewhere around $60 million as its sale price. This precious stone has been on display in the year 2003 at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C in an exhibit called "Splendor of Diamonds" and at the Natural History Museum in London called "Diamonds exhibit” in the year 2005. The Sotheby’s have planned on taking this glittering rock on a worldwide tour to cities like Hong Kong,
New York City, London, Zurich, and Geneva.
