Oscars 2015 Red Carpet

The day that we had all so eagerly been waiting for since the commencement of the award season, the ever prestigious Oscars 2015 is finally done and dusted. We had some big wins and a few disappointments. But, it was most certainly a night to remember, with Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars descending at Dolby Theater, Los Angeles. For those who missed it, let us give you a quick recap through the highlight of the grand red carpet trends of the 87th Annual Academy Awards, 2015. Before we start, however, we would like to congratulate all the winners on their, no doubt, a well deserved win. But most of all we would like to put a spotlight on the night’s winner not just of the Academy award for best supporting actress category but winner of the hearts (mostly of women around the nation) through her acceptance speech. Most acceptance speeches have a heartfelt thanks to family, friends, directors, crew and others but Actress Patricia Arquette brought the house down by demanding “equal rights for women.” But that’s not all, the Oscar 2015 winner was all for the cause right from the start. First of the nominees to promenade the red carpet, the actress came loaded with a message for all of those obsessed with what the Hollywood glitterati are wearing and had no time to mollify the “silly mani-cams”. We do applaud to such a humanitarian gesture but the fact remains, with all things said and done in the end, we all still remain fanatical about what these big stars are wearing on the red carpet, which star made a statement who won the big nods and thumbs down from the fashion critics. So let’s have a run down at it:

It’s White-hot:

It seemed like almost everyone at the event had dawned on white attire on the red floor. Be it the award winner of the season in lead role. Julianne Moore glowed bright in white custom Channel gown and Chopard diamond earrings to match with the pearly white smile of a true Oscars 2015 winner. Last year’s Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o dazzled in pearly Calvin Klein gown and glittering drop earrings, beautiful Marion Cotillard or pop star Lady Gaga in her quirky red washing gloves, all choose to wear it white to this white-tie affair.

Never Too Nude:

Jennifer Lopez sure loves to steal the show with her plunging neck lines and this time adding to her flare was studded Elie Saab in nude. Shades of beige were also worn on the carpet by Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston.

Sharp Suit-Ups:

Not only did he swoop off the Academy award for best actor, winner Eddie Redmayne also showed us how to look the part in sharp blue-black Alexander McQueen tux. He wasn’t the only one to shrug off the black tux and tie affair, David Oyelowo took a big risk with the crimson Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo but it certainly paid off, pulling one-of-the-best-dressed title for the night. Though the candid host Neil Patrick Harris came on the stage in underwear only and made the crowd feel a tad bit overdressed, he never the less he looked quite a stunner in sharp grey suit for most of the remaining night.

Color Play:

Applaud to these fine women for bring a bit of color to the otherwise dreary floor. Oscars 2015 nominee Emma Stone, perhaps the best dressed female on the red carpet for the night, looked divine in chartreuse colored fine tailored Elie Saab dress. Adding more color to the carpet were Anna Kendrick and Jennifer Hudson, who matched her yellow pastel Romona Keveza dress with one of her many sparkling emerald rings from Lorraine Schwartz, to spice up the floor.

Hint Of Pink:

We all need to take tips from Zoë Saldana to shed off the post-baby belly fats and get all toned up for the big event. Just weeks after delivering twin Zoë shone gracefully in champagne Atelier Versace gown and Neil Lane diamond collar. Following suit, Gwyneth Paltrow in Ralph Laurn and Viola Davis in Zac Posen frocks stood out in baby pink shades.

Woman in Black:

Terrifying no, but glorious, indeed! Black works it magic on the red carpet in a classic appeal with Oscars 2015 winner Patricia Arquette dawning on a black and white asymmetrical dress by Rosetta Getty. Also nominee Meryl Streep looked graceful in chic Lanvin ensemble and Sienna Miller kept the spirit alive in Oscar de la Renta black dress.

Red Alert:

Red Gowns at Oscars 2015

In a bold move to finally chalk-off her name from one-of-the-worst-dressed looks of this season, the Gone Girl’s bad girl, Rosamund Pike took her vengeance by looking ravishing in hot-red Givenchy gown. Arguably one of the best look on the red carpet! But she wasn’t the only one to opt for blood-red; “50 Shades of Grey’s” Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent gown with diamond encrusted trim on her shoulder strap and adding to her jewels were sparkling diamond stud earrings and bracelet by Forevermark. Also model Behati Prinsloo and singer Solange Knowles also color coordinated their respective dresses to the majestic carpet.

All That Glitters:

These ladies don’t need an award to bring glitter to the floor; their mere presence made it up for all the sparkle and shine. Oscar nominee Felicity Jones glittered in floor length custom Alexander McQueen dress. She wasn’t the only one to bring all the sparkle, Anna Faris and Chrissy Tiegen were other two stars shining bright.

Print Perfect:

While most went for plane color palettes, some bold ones brought the intricate prints on the carpet. Naomi Watts bedazzled the red carpet in stunning Armani Prive gown with black sequined sports bar and edgy blue sapphire and diamond earrings by Anna Hu. Oscar nominee Keira Knightley in a candid move dressed her baby bump with a funky floral Valentino gown. Chloe Moretz was also amongst to ones to bring patterned dress to the event adding more bling with chic diamond ear-climbers.

Let The Jewelry Do The Talking:

Jewelry at Oscars 2015

Where the fine gowns do deserve a lot of talk, let’s put some spotlight on bold statement jewelry of the event. All the focus of the night was not just on the sheer Saint Laurent gown of Focus star Margot Robbie, but on the dazzling blue sapphire and diamond pendant from Van Cleef & Arpels. But she wasn’t the only one basking in the sparkly jewels. Scarlett Johansson wore a sleek green Atelier Versace with a bold neck line. Adding a unique flare to the ensemble was heavily beaded high-necked choker which was the part of the design. Cate Blanchett elegantly dressed her plain Maison Margiela black dress with a bold turquoise stunner, a major style jump from her usual red carpet couture. So there we are with a quick look at prestigious nights high and low fashion moments to while-away our time while we wait another excruciatingly long year for the Oscars 2016. What new surprises will this coming year bring? One can only sit back and enjoy the ride. Adios!
